Katy Baker comes from a family history of ministry that dates back over 200 years.  That means that her daddy drug her along to do weddings since she was a baby!  (And he's still a wedding officiate in Texas now.)

She took that logistical knowledge to work in the motion picture industry, with more than four years with the Nevada Film Commission.  You have seen her creative and logistical suggests in such movies as Independence Day with Will Smith and The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

Katy also served over six years as the entertainment coordinator for a major casino resort in Reno.  She cared for entertainers, bands, and stage crews for seven concert venues, all on the same property, many with shows staging simultaneously.  Rooms, food, transportation, security, and fans -- she has handled some of the biggest rock stars and divas in the world, and many still call her friend.

Since moving to Sacramento in 2005, Katy has become one of the most respected events coordinators in northern California and gained a reputation as a "bride whisperer," using bubbles, teddy bears, and her sense of humor to calm nerves and put crises into perspective.  (See her media links on the home page.)  From Monterey to Modesto, Chico to Redding, San Francisco, Sonoma, or the Sierras, and yes, even Sacramento, Katy loves giving her brides the one-on-one attention they deserve.

What Does Adagio Mean?

In music, adagio means to slow down; this particular section is important and is meant to be especially enjoyed.

Adagio is also a dance movement.  If you have ever watched ballet or ice skating, you've seen an adagio.  The male dancer lifts and balances his female companion high over his head.  She flies through the air with beauty and grace while he moves across the floor, turning and stepping through complicated moves with seamless effort.

That's how Katy sees her relationship with her clients. "My job is to hold up my clients, turning and stepping through all the little details," she says.  "It is your day to fly beautifully for all to see!  If you start to fall, my job is to catch you and bring you back to the center.  You are the star of the show!"
